Why is my eSIM not working?

Why is my eSIM not working?

If your eSIMNum isn’t working, it could be due to several common issues. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to quickly identify the problem and get connected.

Check your eSIM coverage

Your eSIMNum only works within the coverage area specified for your plan. For example, an eSIM for France will only work while in France. Installing or activating it outside the coverage region may prevent network connection.

Verify installation

Make sure your eSIMNum is correctly installed:

  • On your device, go to Settings > SIMs / Cellular / Mobile Data and confirm your eSIM appears in the list.
  • Give your eSIM a unique label if you have multiple SIMs on the device — this makes it easier to identify.
  • If your eSIM doesn’t appear, double-check the installation instructions provided in the eSIMNum app.

Ensure the eSIM is active and selected

  • Make sure the eSIM is turned on.
  • For data connectivity, confirm it is selected as the default data SIM.
  • If your eSIM supports calls and texts, make sure it’s also selected for calls and messages.

Turn off Airplane Mode

Airplane Mode disables all wireless connections. Even if your eSIM is installed correctly, it won’t connect while Airplane Mode is on. Turn it off and wait a few seconds for the device to search for networks.

Check APN settings

Some eSIMNum plans require a specific Access Point Name (APN) to access mobile data:

  • If APN is not automatically configured, open Settings > Cellular / Mobile Data > Cellular Data Network / APN.
  • Enter the APN exactly as provided in your eSIMNum installation instructions. Leave all other fields blank.

Enable Data Roaming

Many eSIMNum plans require data roaming:

  • On iOS, enable roaming for the eSIM you’re using and disable it for your primary SIM to avoid extra charges.
  • On Android, data roaming usually applies to all SIMs, so ensure the primary SIM is off if needed.

Select a network manually

Your eSIMNum can connect to multiple networks in the coverage area. While most devices connect automatically to the strongest network, sometimes manual selection is necessary:

  • Go to Settings > Cellular / Mobile Networks > Network Selection and select the network recommended in your eSIMNum plan details.

Temporarily disable other eSIMs

If multiple SIMs are active, they may interfere with each other. Turn off other SIMs temporarily via your device settings to avoid conflicts.

Adjust network mode

Some devices may connect better in 4G/LTE or 3G rather than 5G:

  • On iOS, go to your eSIM settings to change the network mode.
  • On Android, adjust the preferred network type in Mobile Network Settings.

Restart your device

If all else fails, restart your phone. This can refresh the network connection and help your eSIMNum establish connectivity.

Check signal coverage

If none of the above resolves the issue, your location may have weak or no coverage. Try moving to an area with better signal.
